Aggie Morrisey Obituary

Aggie Pearl Morrisey of Clinton, N.C. passed away on January 4, 2021.  She was born to the late Aggie Lee Blue and James Henry Steven on March 18, 1937.

Family and friends were her passion and delight.  Affectionately known as Pearl by some and “Miss Aggie” by others, she grew up in Faison, N.C. and became known throughout the community as a very caring and loving person who will forever live in the memory of her family and friends whose lives she touched forever.  Truly possessing a servant’s heart, she began her career in nursing at Sampson Memorial and Cape Fear Valley hospitals. After retiring from nursing, she and her husband, the late James “Ed” Morrisey purchased and ran a small grocery store, serving the needs of those in their community. During this period, she also became an ordained minister at the Greater Six Runs Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member until her passing. She loved missionary work and cherished the time visiting area nursing homes and taking AIDS patients to medical appointments.   Known as a great cook, she was well known for her catering business throughout the community and especially at  the Kenansville Eastern Missionary Baptist Association (Kemba), which she enjoyed most of all. She also supervised the kitchen at the East Coast Migrant Head Start until she was physically unable to continue.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories:  Yonnie Blanchette (Stephen) of San Antonio, Texas, Angela Moore of Clinton, North Carolina, Willie Tillery (stepson); and grandchildren Ashley Bairstow (Cameron),Christopher Blanchette, Jabori Moore, Trinity Moore, Tamika Tillery; great grandchildren, Deonte Tillery, Desmond Tillery; one brother Fred Blue; “sister cousins”, Brenda Joyner (Jesse), Cheryl Oliver (Johnny), Barbara Simmons, Carolyn Boykin and Shelby Faison (whose support was invaluable over the last year); sisters in Christ, Mrs. Oletha Troublefield, Ms. Shirley Moore, Mrs. Mary King, Ms. Angelina Sebastian; Uncle Robert Blue, Aunt Dorothy Daughtry Blue; and numerous other family and friends.

The family would like to express our feelings of gratitude for the expressions of sympathy love, care and concerns shown to us during our time of bereavement.  May God bless each of you.
