Eva Bernice Hayes was born on September 29, 1929 to the late Alex Morrisey and Viola Washington Cooper. She died on November 2, 2020 after battling a series of illnesses.

Bernice was educated in Roseboro, NC and finished high school at the age of 16. Later she moved to New York City where she met her husband, Raymond C. Hayes, whom she was married to for 52 years until his death in 2006.

She cherished her pet cats. However, her true love came when she dedicated her life as a Jehovah’s Witness in Philadelphia, Pa on July 1st, 1978. Her zeal for the ministry was evident all the way up until her health declined.
