At this time, and with very heavy heart, our family announces the passing of Cecil Bruce Butler. Cecil passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 in Clinton, North Carolina at South Wood Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Born August 15, 1935 in Clinton, North Carolina, Cecil was the son of William Curtis and Virginia Butler. He was one of six siblings. Cecil attended and graduated from Roseboro High School.
After 30-plus years as a Civil Servant Cecil was recognized for his dedication and loyalty at the West Point Academy in West Point, New York.
Cecil was blessed with one son, Eric Jackson, and one daughter, Heather White. He married the love of his life in Newburgh, New York, Mrs. Ruby Mae Butler, of Robey, West Virginia (Deceased), a life long partner and loving mother and grandmother. He rejoices in their reunion.
Cecil had a true passion to live life to its fullest. He enjoyed having fun while creating the fondest memories. Cecil was a Deacon at the Baptist Temple Church of Newburgh, New York. And a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton, North Carolina.
Cecil loved to make life-long friends and enjoyed offering a helping hand to all.
Cecil is proceeded in death by: mother, Virginia Butler; father, William Curtis Butler; brothers, Aljerin Lee, William Tyson, and Manly Butler; sisters, Callie Coaxum, and Davetter Shepard. And wife, Ruby Mae Butler.
Cecil is survived by Eric Jackson (son) his wife Jo, and two granddaughters. He is also survived by Heather White (daughter), her husband Michael, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Cecil’s wishes were to have a graveside burial with immediate family members and close friends. The family will announce and celebrate Cecil with any and all memories you would like to share.
The family would like express their appreciation to the staff at South Wood Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility who made Cecil’s final days with all of us comforting beyond belief. We found immense comfort, support, and some levity in hearing your experiences with Cecil. We would also like to express our eternal gratitude and appreciation for each and everyone that has reached out to help us during this difficult time.
Cecil will be missed by all. As Cecil once said, “through prayer, all things are possible.”
Graveside Service will be Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery (4442 Bonnetsville Road, Clinton, NC 28328) at 11:00 am.
