Elma Joyce Davis

Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Due to the will of God, we humbly mourn the loss of a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Elma Joyce Holmes was born March 17, 1948, in Clinton, NC to Edward Holmes Sr. and Alice Holmes. Mother Davis departed this earthly life on February 13, 2026.

Joyce could always be seen smiling, giving you a nice word, and joking in her own special way.  She was proceeded in death by her father, Edward Holmes, Sr., two brothers Billy & Bobby Holmes, husband of 48 years, Fred Davis and her daughter and best friend, Minister Allison Davis-Morrisey.

Joyce took the Lord’s hand at an early age and was a member of Lisbon Street Baptist Church where she was a devoted member and sang in the choir. Joyce later moved her membership to New Life Outreach Ministries. Under the leadership of New Life, Joyce took her lifelong calling as a servant to the next level through her work in the church.

Joyce was a high school graduate of Sampson High School. She went on to receive her Certified Nursing Assistant License and was a devoted servant to the residents of Mary Gran Nursing Center until her retirement.

Mother Joyce Davis leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Alice Holmes, Clinton, NC, daughter April Davis Aikens, Greensboro, NC, son Frederick Davis (Jana), Rock Hill, SC, son-in law Derrick Morrisey, Turkey, NC, sister Jackie Holmes, Durham, NC, brother Edward Holmes Jr. (Rue) Clinton, NC. Grandchildren: E’Licia Morrisey, Dansel Aikens, Ahjayla Morrisey, Danielle Aikens, and Trinity Davis. Great grandson: Elijah Ramirez and special grandsons Jabari Thomas, Braylen Thomas, and Elias Williams. Special cousin/sister Kathy Melvin, special brother/friend Donnie Blue. Brother-in-laws James Davis (Fannie), Frank Davis, and Willie B. Davis. Sister-in-laws Thelma Davis, Pearly Davis, Mary Helen Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm at New Life Outreach Ministries, 708 Sampson Street, Clinton, NC 28328. 

Interment: Sandhill Cemetery, 3 Sampson Street, Clinton, NC 28328

Public Viewing: Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Butler & Son Funeral Services, 410 N. Blvd, Clinton, NC 28328 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
