Michael Moore Obituary

Our beloved Mr. Michael Oscar Moore departed from this earthly life to his eternal rest on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home. 

Mr. Michael Oscar Moore was born on October 4, 1950 in Roseboro, NC. He was the son of the late Junior C. Moore, Sr and Lula B. Miller. He was married to the late Darlene Owen Moore. They were proud parents of the late Michael Leonard Moore. 

He joined Smith Chapel AME Zion Church in his youth. He later was active at New Light AME Zion Church in Salemburg.  

Mr. Moore or "Pete" as many called him, graduated from Charles E. Perry School in 1968. He continued his education at Fayetteville Stated University where he was a member of the baseball team. After leaving college he moved to Newark, New Jersey and began working for Ford Motor Company. After the plant closed in New Jersey, He transferred to the Ford plant in St. Paul, Minnesota where he continued to live and work until he retired in 2007 and moved back to Roseboro. 

Mr. Moore was a sports enthusiast who really enjoyed golfing in his leisure time. His friend Roy Lane Jr of St. Paul, Minnesota reminisced about how Oscar played softball for Ford's team in Minnesota and that he was an avid baseball player. He also went to trade school to be a clock maker and actually made a grandfather clock. He He and his wife spoke of Oscar's love for his wife, son, and mother. He enjoyed the blue and attended a blues festival each summer. They also shared that he was well respected and well loved by all he knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene O. Moore, son; Michael Moore, Father; Junior C. Moore, Sr, brother Junior C. Moore, Jr., Jerry Devone, and Cornell Culbreth.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother: Lula B. Miller, two sisters; Jackie Warren (Thomas) of Bellville, NC and Veronica Miller of Roseboro,NC and one bother; Darryl Miller (Linda) of Roseboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 Private graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Roseboro Cemetery in Roseboro, NC.
