Ruby Butler Obituary

At this time and with very heavy heart our family announces the passing of Ruby Mae Butler. Ruby passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at her home in Clinton, North Carolina. Ruby Mae Butler was born December 12,1935 in Robey, West Virginia. She is the daughter of Lenora and William Jackson Sr. She is one of eleven siblings. Ruby was raised in Galloway, West Virginia where she attended and graduated from Philip Barbour High School Located in Philippi West Virginia. She was one of the first two black students to initiate integration at Philip Barbour High School. Ruby’s education continued in the health care field and graduated from a Nursing program in RockLand County, New York. She became a Licensed Practitioner Nurse and became a Manager at the Letchworth Village Mental Institution which was once a model Institution for the treatment of mentally and the physically disabled. Ruby was recognized for her dedication and loyalty for 25 plus years of service. Ruby was blessed with one son, Eric Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Bruce Butler of Clinton, North Carolina, a life long partner and loving father and grandfather.

Ruby had a true passion to live life to its fullest and having fun while creating the fondest memories. Ruby was also a Deaconess to the Baptist Temple Church of Newburgh, New York. Ruby loved to make life long friends and offer a helping hand to all. She also loved doing Jigsaw Puzzles, Word Searches, Crossword Puzzles, and Sudoku. She was quite the conversationalist and Debater to boot. Ruby is proceeded in death by: mother, Lenora and father, William Jackson Sr, brother, William Jackson Jr (Yukie wife), sister, Shirley Wilmoth, brother, Jimmie Jackson, brother, Leroy Jackson and brother, Robert Jackson.

Ruby is also survived by her son Eric Jackson, his wife Jo, and Granddaughters Nakeisha and Danica Jackson, sister, Mattie Kidd(Calvin husband), sister, Anne Bell Hipps (Billy Howard), brother, Noah Jackson (Toni), brother, Charles Jackson ( Charlotte Wife) and brother, Donald Jackson ( Ruth Anne wife). Ruby’s wishes were to have a graveside burial with immediate family members. The family will celebrate Ruby with any and all memories the family would like to share. The family would like express their appreciation and love for the amazing Liberty Hospice Staff who made Ruby’s final days with all of us comforting beyond belief. We would also like to express our eternal gratitude and appreciation for each and everyone that has reached out to help us during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes a donation be made to Liberty Hospice.

Graveside Service: Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, Clinton, NC at 1:30 pm. 

Graveside Service will be live-streamed through Butler & Son Funeral Home Facebook Page at 1:30 pm on the day of service.
