Woodrow Warren Obituary

Woodrow Warren was born February 5, 1934 in Clinton, NC.  He was the son of the late Eliotte Warren and Alberta Darden and husband to the late Ruby Robinson Warren. He worked in New York many years as a plasterer for the City of New York until his retirement in 1999. He was also an entrepreneur and renovated several apartment buildings in Philadelphia. In 2014, Woodrow relocated back to Clinton for a few months and then to Raleigh, where he resided under the devoted care of his daughter Gail until his transition on August 18, 2020.

Not a man of many words, Woodrow was an immensely strong provider for his immediate and extended family. He wanted the best for his wife, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and siblings. He loved to read and spend time outdoors. He always took pride in his appearance and his attire. He was known for his nice suits and hats. For entertainment, he loved gospel and jazz music, western movies, watching wrestling, and Sanford & Son. He often followed a holistic lifestyle and was avid about eating healthy.  He loved going to acupuncture. He LOVED to eat and didn’t believe in leaving food behind on his plate. Some of his favorite foods were apple sauce, meats of all kinds, and drinking orange juice.  Lastly, he was a man of God and was a devoted churchgoer at his church in Raleigh until his health prevented him from attending.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his father, Eliotte Warren, and his mother, Alberta Darden Warren. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Ruby Robinson Warren, of Clinton; and by his siblings: John Robert, Hattie Pearl, Earl Lee “Sonny Boy,” Adlene “Sane,” Berta “Ebay,”Moddy, and Blanche.
